Reflections.

2021, the year most of us counted down because of how 2020 turned out to be. But 2021 has started off with alarming numbers of infections and deaths here in South Africa.

As much as we want to ignore what is happening around us, we must understand this is our reality and by us ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. So let us continue to stay safe, wear our masks, sanitize and social distance. How we respond to this pandemic will determine our lives and those close to and around us.

2021, has brought many things into perspective for me. It’s the small things that matter. Me, family and time are the most important to me. If I have to reflect on 2020, the words I would use to describe it would be confusion, fear, anxiousness, frustration, exhausting and chaotic. But 2020 has taught me to constantly stay grateful, appreciate everything I have and take absolutely nothing for granted. Be present in your presence. Be present in moments no matter how small they may seem.

2021, I need to let go and simply let it be. If something does not serve my purpose or disrupts my peace, I simply let it go. I need to let go of stuff, stuff that does not serve me. I want to be light in 2021, not in a physical sense but light emotionally, and mentally. Not only that, but I need to ensure that I take care of me so that I am able to care of my squads needs, they too need reassurance in the midst of the uncertainty.

A new year brings new opportunities, and one needs to have a vision in place. Have a vision board up for yourself and what you want to achieve this year. This year my vision is clear and 1 of my biggest achievements this year is to become a published author, hosting more events, like I am hosting my 1st ladies only event 27.02.2021 amongst other things.

Having a word for the year is a way to help you focus and be intentional, to find motivation in the directions you want to go, and to give insight and a point of reference when you reflect on what’s happening in your life and how you can use it to grow. Allow your vision and your word to flow together. The last few years I’ve been choosing a word for the year, my life has certainly changed for the better. Some of my previous words proved to be wildly empowering — STEPPING OUT, FEARLESS, SEEN, INTENTIONAL and OPEN were all dynamically useful words that helped me create change in my life in 2019. NOURISH supported me through a very difficult time in 2017. In 2018 SELF-LOVE was the only possible word for a year that contained a life-changing event. This year I am clinging on to HEART, GRATITUDE AND INTENTIONAL in a Year that is proving to be unpredictable. The benefit of a word is that it provides a specific focal point that can help anchor you, but doesn’t have any pressure such as resolutions. There’s no way to fail your word — it’s simply there when you need it.

So, find your word, find your Centre, find your balance and have your vision to take on 2021. It is ok to feel down, to not be ok, it’s ok. But come back and keep going and keep doing.

May 2021 bring you health, strength, peace and happiness.

Stay blessed.
