What is your kitchen flop as a mom?
So, In our kitchen I know what I am good at and areas where I am not good. I’ve learnt to stay in my lane. And I am very content and happy knowing I am NOT perfect.
I have learnt I am not perfect, I cannot do everything and I definitely cannot nail everything. Nope. I am a human being after all.
So, in our home both Rob and I cook, and some dishes Rob is fantastic at and those I leave to him to cook. Some dishes I taught him to make and trust me they come out way better when he cooks them but it doesn’t make me feel any less of a woman, a wife or mom. I simply stick to my strengths.
Then. We all know our mom’s or mom in law’s cook certain dishes way better than we do. Does it upset me? Nope. I really cannot be competing with someone whose been cooking way longer than me. She’s perfected her skills and I appreciate it.
That means if I wish for one of her famous dishes, I ask her to make it or like yesterday I take a mom in law masterclass. She tells me step by step how to make her famous and oh so delicious breyani. I don’t expect mine to taste like her’s but at least a similar taste would make it worth it.👌
We learn every day and the more we do something the more we perfect it. So mom’s don’t try compete in the kitchen, stick to your strengths and learn as you go along.
And yes when your person says, my mom’s breyani is better than yours you can confidently say, yes I absolutely agree, she is a boss in the kitchen.
Be a happy mom not a perfect one!
Stick to your strengths 💜
